I had a great experience learning to sew at Mikala Cash Design Studios. The class size is small enough so that you can ask questions and get individual help with your projects. We learned the basics of the machines and were able to complete two projects. Mikala is a very patient teacher who also inspires you to create and learn at your own pace. I completed two beginner projects and will sign up for the Advanced beginner class soon. Thanks Mikala for teaching me to sew!

I think that people of all ages would like Mikala’s Sewing Class! Her tenchich of teaching is VERY good. She does a great gob with kids.I reccomend this place for any one who wants to learn how to sew, or some one who knows how but wants to have a fun time!

Sadly, I came to Mikala’s class without any sewing experience or exposure to a sewing machine. Needless to say, I was a complete novice and somewhat intimidated by the series of 5 courses. Now that I am done with the course, I can safely say that I learned how to make a throw pillow, tote bag, and thread a sewing machine! Your first class is spent learning about the mechanics of a sewing machine (novice= I didn’t know what a bobbin was) to sewing straight lines as practice. Classes 2-5 involved cutting, measuring, sewing, and more sewing. The perks to this particular introductory sewing class is that I walked away with a very practical skill set and now I feel like I can do some mending, which was my ultimate goal. In addition to the course, you also get a very patient and ethusiastic teacher who makes the session enyable. I was also fortunate to have a fun group of sewing mates to help in those instances where I wasn’t sure what to do next. This was definitely a worthwhile class for me to take!

I just completed my beginner class with Mikala. In just weeks, she had us sewing like professionals. We made gorgeous throw pillows and beautiful tote bags. One of my co-workers didn’t even believe I had made from scratch. The fabric she has for us to choose from is amazing. So many options of colors and fabrics. She is so helpful, from the knowledge of different sewing machines, to the different pins and needles we use. For what you gain from the classes, from the quality of fabric we use, to Mikala’s knowledge, her classes are very affordable. I started the tailoring class last night and when that is over, I can’t wait to get into the advanced beginner class. If anyone hasn’t sewn,(even in 20 years like me), she will quickly get you back into it by helping you from choosing the right kind of sewing machine to buy, to the type of thread to buy. I will definately recommend Mikala to everyone!

I absolutely loved my beginner sewing class this summer! I had no prior sewing experience before the class, now I’m so much more confident in my sewing! Mikala is a great teacher; she is very friendly and professional! My friends couldn’t believe that I made my tote bag myself, now they all want one too. I signed up for beginner sewing classes with Mikala this summer and loved them! I had sewed a bit years ago with my mom, but kind of forgot how to do everything. Mikala’s sewing classes have been great. It is a fun night out and I have met alot of really nice people. I have made so many cute things and it has given me the confidence to try new projects on my own at home. Mikala is truly amazing. She has a wonderful personality and is a terrific teacher. I took her beginner sewing class and loved it. My sewing machine sat in the corner for over five years mocking me everyday, due to my lack of sewing abilities… then I met Mikala. After watching my children take her classes and become so comfortable with the same machine that still made me uneasy, I decided to give an Adults Beginners sewing class a try. If the kids could do it, couldn’t I? (And they came home with the coolest projects-yes I was a little jealous!)
Well with the fantastic teaching of Mikala, who works with you at your own pace, shows you how to use the sewing machine, and the wonderful small class size, I am now the proud own of a few projects I made myself! I also now know how to work the machine that mocked me for so long. Thank for being such a wonderful teacher!
P.S. I am even thinking of taking the next class up, of course it is because I am now a pro due to Mikala’s teaching!
